I’ve spent the past 35 years working in various departments across the U.S. banking industry, with a large part of that time focused on credit, consumer lending, and personal finance. I’ve seen firsthand how credit scores affect people’s lives — from loan approvals to long-term financial freedom — and more importantly, how confusing the whole system can be for the average person.

Over the years, I’ve watched credit scores go from being “just a number for banks” to something that touches nearly every part of life.

Today:
